Hatsune Miku Desktop Gadget Application Download This is a neat little application that summons a small Miku that roams around your desktop and does various activities. She’ll climb the edges of your screen and windows, jump around, play with various objects, and even multiply. This version of Miku will import nicely into the Vocaloid3 music editor. (Which is what I did.) The Vocaloid3 editor is a big improvement over Vocaloid2, but it is sold separately. In order to import Miku into Vocaloid3, you have to install and register Miku first, then register Miku with Yamaha to get an import code for Vocaloid 3.

The Hokkaido Police's Nayoro Station arrested 38-year-old unemployed Nayoro resident Jōji Mizuma for allegedly making the Hatsune Miku character's music software available for download without the copyright holders' authorization. According to the arrest report, the suspect made Vocaloid 2 Character Vocal Series 01: Hatsune Miku and two other programs available for download on a server from around August 29 of last year to May 19 of this year. The suspect allegedly admitted to the charges.

According to Nayoro Station, the suspect attracted customers on an auction site, and then gave the winning bidders the address of the stored software for profit.

This is a neat little application that summons a small Miku that roams around your desktop and does various activities. She’ll climb the edges of your screen and windows, jump around, play with various objects, and even multiply. So it is not a good idea to leave her unattended for extended periods of time. She even gets a bit mischievous and may steal your application windows to throw them off screen (only works on some windowed apps, not full screen). Thankfully the application has an option to summon them back if this happens. You can even move her around if you want.

To use it, simply extract the entire folder and launch the file named “Shimeji.jar” (you will need Java for it to work). Afterwards, a small icon will appear in the lower right corner of your screen and a single Miku will drop onto your desktop.
The controls for the application are as follows:
  1. Top Option: Summon another Miku (or just double click the small icon).
  2. Second Option: Calls all Mikus on screen to the location of your mouse.
  3. Third Option: Deletes all Mikus on screen except the original (delete individual Mikus by right clicking on them).
  4. Fouth Option: Brings back any stolen windows that were thrown off screen.
  5. Fifth Option: Quits the application.
